2005 Christmas Tree "Our Youth Our Future" was a big success helping over 75 people suffering a Mental Illness on Christmas day some of which live on their own. Suicide Awareness was able this year to contribute over $2000.00 in Gifts and Hampers for 3 farming families in our rural area, as well as small hampers for our youth on the street.

Also with the help of food companies around Australia we were able to give out 30 food hampers to people suffering a Mental Illness, this was a great success giving them the Christmas spirit we all love so much.

A Message from some of our recipients...

Goodfellas

Thank you Val and the committee of Suicide Awareness for helping to make Christmas for the men of Goodfellas a very special one.

The men were overwhelmed with the gifts you so kindly donated for your 2005 Christmas Tree “Our Youth Our Future” and are still using the goodies they received almost a month later.

These gifts given to the men of goodfellas was to them a conformation that they are cared about by others in our community and has helped them feel a little more special about themselves and those around them.

Once again I thank you all on behalf of the Goodfellas Men’s Support Group for making this Christmas one to remember.

Below are some comments, made by the men after receiving their Gifts:

'Unexpected surprise and absolutely delighted'...JB.

'Very much appreciated. Made my Christmas a lot happier'...JS.

'Bloody Good Christmas Present'...CC.

'Very happy to be given the Christmas gifts that I got'...RM.

'We are very surprised you gave us the hamper and a lot of lovely Christmas gifts. Thank you very much for your kindness'...J & DC.

GRIFFITH & LEETON REGIONAL FAMILY SERVICES

Again it is with great appreciation I pass on a big thank you from our lucky gift recipients who were overwhelmed with their gifts. Your generosity again extends thoughts of care to people whom, at a time like Christmas can often become very isolated and depressed. For some, Christmas is a very trying time.

Workers also received a big buzz out of the Christmas tree through Suicide Awareness. The opportunity to give and share something special in someone’s life is a gift in itself.

Griffith Regional Family Services thank you for caring for people in our community.

JPET

Without the wonderful donations from the Suicide Awareness group and companies around Australia, some of my JPET clients would not have had a decent Christmas meal let alone a Christmas present to open on Christmas day, with many of my clients spending Christmas day alone.

I thought I would let you know that the clients who received presents and hampers, that they were extremely grateful and surprised to receive these wonderful gifts and I was asked to pass on their many thanks to the Suicide Awareness group for their wonderful gifts.
