Being Aware
Depression & Suicide is a subject many of us don't want to talk about or know about, but behind closed doors across the world this is happening and so families are suffering. This is an illness worldwide and Suicide Awareness is trying to make a difference as suicide or depression can happen to any family at any time.

Throughout this website we give hope. True stories on how people have turned their lives around and how they have coped living with a mental illness. Lets fight this stigma and allow those who have lost someone to suicide or who are suffering depression talk about it, and lets help them get the support needed.

Through your support in purchasing a book of raffle tickets you are taking the first step in fighting the stigma and giving someone hope and a better future.

The Healing Beach
My Children Chose To Die

This is a true story that was written after losing her three children to suicide. Kaylene started writing as a healing process after the loss of her second Son to suicide, it was after losing the last of her children, her Daughter and unborn Grandchild also to suicide that Kaylene was encouraged to finish her story and publish it as a book. Knowing how very hard it is to talk to anyone about suicide and with so much stigma still attached to this horrific tragedy, Kaylene talks about her life, touching on how things can go so terribly wrong by making the wrong choices.

Mostly Kaylene has written hopefully to let others out there know, that with the right help you can go on and you can be happy. Suicide has for too long been a subject that know one wants to talk about, yet it affects so many of us, it can happen to anyone.
Kaylene talks about how the Trauma Team from StandBy helped her so much after the death of her Daughter. How she is currently working with her own Support Group (Living Beyond Suicide) and the Young People's Support Group, (Head High). The Young People's group has been running successfully for 12 months now, and it is hoped to be the start of many more. These groups are initiatives of the Sunshine Coast Suicide Prevention Network.
